When considering double strollers you have to consider that double stroller come in basically two different forms. A tandem stroller is where children ride front and back. The second is a side-by-side stroller where children sit next to each other. Each stroller type comes with its own advantages and disadvantages and we here at US Strollers would like to about the benefits and drawbacks to each and what you should consider when purchasing a double stroller.
Our first tip for buying a double stroller is to consider how you plan on using the stroller. If you love to shop and plan on brining the kids with you all the way then we think you should consider a tandem. You’ll find getting down the aisles with a tandem stroller considerably easier. There is nothing worse than trying to get some shopping done, be it groceries or getting new clothes for the kids who never stop growing, than fighting with a stroller that doesn’t fit down the aisle or is knocking items off the shelves.
Tandem Stroller are considerably less cumbersome and often have reclining seats so if you kids pass out once they’re in the stroller then this may also be something to consider. One thing we must point out about the tandem double stroller is the completion for the front seat. We’ve too often notice arguments, usually between older younger brothers, over the front seat. While there is no difference between the front and back seat (I can’t tell you how many times I’ve uttered those words), and now especially most tandem double strollers have elevated back seats, fights do erupt. The one child who sits in the back seat is sometimes out for revenge, now has the distinct pleasure of being able to kick the back of the front seat. If you’re the master of you domain and can quell arguments then this may be the way to go if not, this leads us to the side-by-side double stroller.
If you’re having twins or children close to the same age a side by side might work for you. As discussed earlier, the fight for the front seat can cause any parent to not want to leave the house but with the tandem, each child has the front seat. Another great aspect of the side by side double stroller is for those moms who really enjoy walking or plan on pushing their child to the park, the stroller goes up and down curbs much easier then a tandem double stroller.
A few tips about buying a side-by-side double stroller we have to share with you. The first tip is to consider the weight of your children. If you have an older or a considerably heavier child you will fight with the stroller to keeping it going straight. Another issue we’ve come across is when folding the stroller down; make sure it fits in the trunk or back of your car. That said, the stroller has to fit into the back of your car, it also needs to leave enough room for the rest of your life. By that I mean, you’re not just going to the mall with your kids, you’ll be shopping for cloths and groceries, if you can only fit the stroller in the back, where will you put the rest of the stuff?
Most double tandem and side by side stroller models have two reclining seats and separate canopies and all offer an extremely smooth and comfortable ride for your children.
